Alone time, dreams, happiness...
I walked in the door from work this evening to a quiet house. As I walked upstairs and into the kitchen I noticed the dishes had been scrubbed clean, and dinner preparations had been started. Paul walked into the room and asked me how work was, filled me in on what the boys had been up to all day, and then asked maybe one of the best questions ever: “What can I do to make you...

Forever Young
One thing I love about being a mom is when I get the chance to create special moments out of everyday life. Last Friday I really needed to get to the grocery store, Paul needed to do a lot of work for his class he’s taking this summer, and Phoenix really needed a nap. Up until this point I’ve been reading all of those general parenting books—how to get your baby to sleep through the night, what to feed your picky toddler, and how to prepare your preschooler for kindergarten.
Last weekend though we went to a soccer game, and when Paul had taken...

Being a Multicultural Family
I sit and write this in a notebook while Phoenix runs circles around me. Upstairs, Paul and Zion are enjoying some read-aloud time together. Every now and then I pause my thinking process to redirect, or give a kiss, or simply laugh at the somehow naturally humorous antics of a toddler.
In most ways we are like any other family. We work, we play, we laugh and cry. Most of all, we love. Paul...
